Stadium is more social than TV

A research by HTC during the UEFA Champions League first match-day (17th and 18th of September) reveals that people attending a match send more tweet and more various than people watching the event on TV.

They send 8 times more posts not only commenting actions, players and coaches but also sending photos.

Chelsea supporters have been the "more social" (129 tweets on 100 participants) while Bayern Monaco fans finished at the bottom of the list (1,8 on 100). Leo Messi (as player) and Jose Mourinho (as trainer) were the most popular protagonists.

Talking about teams, Olympique Marseille account were the most proficient with 128 tweets while Chelsea FC with 38 messages preferred to let fans communicate about the match.

Applications revenues: the majority from free apps with in-app purchases

Distimo and MEF published the result of a research where they claim that developers make money in the applications keeping them free but adding in-app purchase.
Important findings included in the report:

  • Revenue portions considering the two major store: 65% Apple App Store vs. 35% Google Play Store
  • Revenue by business model in USA: 86% of Apple App Store applications get revenue from in-app purchases vs 94% on Google Play Store. Paid applications on App store are the 7% and another 7% are paid application with in-app purchases. On the Google Play store, the 2% are paid applications and the 4% paid + in-app purchases applications
The reports illustrates how the mobile gaming is the category producing the biggest portion of revenue.
